A little about Imagine That Books
Imagine That Books was founded with a focus on e-book publishing, by authors Ronnie Massey and Gary Robinson. Like many other authors before me, I had no idea how to even begin to try and get my book published. After a few years of posting my work at online e-books sites such as Wattpad and Scribd, I began researching the publishing industry. I read submission guidelines for numerous publishing houses. To say I was intimidated is an understatement. Very few places accept queries from new authors, and most require authors to have an agent. Well, I started researching agents and my hopes of getting published got knocked down a few more pegs.
Despite my doubts, I did begin to query agents and publishers. Some never even bothered to return my emails. Some rejected me based on query alone and some requested more information only to reject me later. After receiving the rejection letters I decided to give up, but lucky for me the encouragement of a fellow author gave me the boost I needed to try one more time. With that encouragement also came a small bit of advice; try micro-publishers.
Micro-Publishers are smaller publishing houses that often start out as self-publishers that expand to include other authors. I took her advice and it paid off. My first novel was published in 2011.
Another bit of advice that I was given was to release a few short stories on Amazon in Kindle format, as a way to build interest in my forthcoming novel. I'm fairly comfortable around a computer and I was already familiar with cover creation and e-book formatting through my experience posting my works online, so I decided to take that tip and run with it. I released two short stories in e-book format. Guess what? It was a lot easier than I thought.
My experienced publishing my short stories and novellas has given me the confidence I need to now help others achieve their dreams of becoming published authors. Imagine That Books may be small but Gary and I will offer our authors unlimited and unparalleled support as we work with them to bring their works to the public.
